Dr. Paula Turner-Coleman

Dr. Paula Turner-Coleman is a product of the Eastern Shore, but her educational background and career aspirations have afforded her the opportunity to experience the world. She takes great pride in the fact that she obtained her B.S. in Biology pre-medicine while participating in the dual honors degree program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Paula Turner-Coleman graduated from this program with a 4.0 GPA. She received her Masters degree in Teaching from the University of Maryland University College. Dr. Turner-Coleman was hand selected to participate in the Lower Eastern Shore School Leadership Institute, an experience funded by Maryland State Department of Education grant funds. It was through this collaboration Turner-Coleman received her terminal doctoral degree at no cost to her from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Dr. Turner-Coleman also serves the beauty industry as a licensed Senior Cosmetologist.

Turner-Coleman's first job out of college was as a pharmaceutical and medical sales representative in New York City. After just a few short months, she was recruited to work at a pharmaceutical advertising agency on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan as an Account Executive. It was during this time that Dr. Turner-Coleman traveled to every state in the CONUS (Continental United States) and to Paris, France. While in Paris, she worked on the development and promotion of a pharmaceutical for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Her ties to the medical field are still strong, for she serves on many medical boards.

Upon returning to the Eastern Shore, Paula Turner-Coleman’s career in education began. Her years in the teaching profession have allowed her to serve in the role of Science Teacher; Mathematics Teacher; Instructional Coach; Curriculum Planner; Vice Principal; Supervisor of Science, STEM, Health, Physical Education, Computer Science, and Environmental Literacy; High School Principal; and Professor. She believes the proper mix of academics, character education, technology integration, and parental and community involvement yields a student ready to serve their community and accomplish their personal dreams.

Dr. Turner-Coleman also has a passion for community service and is involved in many organizations. Some of her professional and community commitments include:
  • Serving two terms/two appointments by Governor Larry Hogan to the state hospital board where she also served as the chairperson.
